Conference

• The Northern Michigan International Association of Administrative Professions will conduct its annual administrative professional conference Oct. 19 at the Holiday Inn in Traverse City. This year's theme is "Fall for a Bright Future.” Cost for the day, which includes four personal and professional development seminars, is $60 for members and $75 for the general public. • The Traverse City Record-Eagle recently promoted sales representative Ginny Thomas to senior media consultant.

Thomas will maintain her existing clients while taking on her new leadership role in the department.

• Randy Dye has joined RE/MAX Bayshore Properties in Benzie County as manager of the office, 610 Main St. in Frankfort.

Before joining RE/MAX, Dye spent five years in real estate, most recently with Coldwell Banker Schmidt.

• Connie McCurry has joined Passageways Travel as the director of finance and is responsible for all accounting functions at the statewide travel management company. McCurry brings more than 20 years experience in financial and information systems to Passageways. Before joining the company she served as business manager and operations leader at Girl Scouts of Crooked Tree in Traverse City. McCurry also worked as a consultant and small business adviser.

• Douglas Knorr, president of Knorr Marketing in Traverse City, was featured as the first of five academy training presenters during the recent Western Home Furnishings Association Market in Las Vegas. Knorr's presentation, sponsored by the association, was titled: "How To Market When the Customer is in Control!”

• Pointes North Beachfront Resort Hotel in Traverse City has added Diane Christenson as its sales and marketing manager.

Christenson manages real estate sales, group sales and marketing and brings more than 24 years experience to her new position.

Certification

• Randall A. Kamps recently was awarded the Qualified 401(k) Administrator credential by the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.

Kamps completed a education and examination program covering a broad range of retirement plan issues. His company, I AM, inc., in Traverse City, provides turnkey pension administration services to business-sponsored retirement plans.
