08/30/2007Letters to the EditorIllegal pumping?I recently took a walk along West Bay and noticed the many water pumps on bayshore private properties. When I lived in Traverse it was illegal to pump water for your lawns from the bay. This is also happening on Boardman Lake. Why has no responsible government party done anything about this with the lake levels the way they are? Torval H. Bensen III Don't 'move' from GodThis is in response to Barbara Russell's Aug. 15 letter regarding Catholics and the priest sexual abuse scandal (related to the Traverse City Film Festival's movie "Deliver us from Evil.) As a Catholic, I would like to say that I am sickened by the thought of a priest molesting an innocent child and of those in authority covering up such facts. I encourage all Catholics to pray for our church, and its leaders that we may heed this wake-up call. We need to pray for those who have been wounded by such atrocious acts that God will hear their cry and heal them. We need to pray for our priests and reach out to them to prevent this from happening again. Finally, I urge people to be cognizant of the fact that many of the Film Festival movies are intended to "move people; please do not let this film "move you away from God because God is good, God is holy and God is love! Claire Scerbak Staff is top rateIn response to Mr. Halleck's letter "Patient care is lacking of Aug. 5, my experience at Munson's emergency room couldn't have been any better. I was treated very courteously and efficiently and I saw no malingering as described by Mr. Halleck. Yes, there are TVs and comfortable spaces for family, patients and staff, but they deserve no less. Liz Wallaker A dream job?I must be searching in the wrong areas. After having been laid off from my job in November, after nearly 18 years, I'm wondering where I can find a job that pays $63,000 a year and not have to show up and take taxpayer-paid trips to boot?
