08/31/2007Trojans fall to Forest Hills Central, 17-7GRAND RAPIDS Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central got out to an early 17-0 lead and didn't look back as Traverse City Central fell to 1-1 with a 17-7 loss on Thursday. Sam Martin scored on a 10-yard quarterback keeper with 4:31 left to get the Trojans on the board. David Harman added the extra point. The Rangers struck first after an interception set them up at the 25-yard line. Two plays later, Joey Saladino scored on a 16-yard run for a 7-0 lead with 4:59 left in the first quarter. Forest Hills Central (2-0) struck again on a 2-yard run with 55 seconds left in the first period and added a field goal with 50 seconds remaining in the half for a 17-0 halftime bulge. Central held on a goal-line stand late in the third quarter after the Panthers had first-and-goal at the 1 to keep Forest Hills scoreless in the second half. Forest Hills Central outgained TC Central 339-223 for the night. Dylan Hutchison led the Trojans with 56 rushing yards and Harman added 28. Martin completed 9-of-18 passes for 127 yards, with four of those receptions going to Nick Roen. Central (1-1) opens its Big North Conference slate on the road against Alpena next Friday.
