Personnel file

• Dave Kramer recently joined Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Frankfort as a sales associate. A 1982 graduate of Frankfort High School, Kramer spent 21 years in the Air Force before retuning to his hometown. Kramer's father, Wayne, founded the original Sleeping Bear Realty Inc., in 1976 making the company one of Benzie County's oldest locally owned real estate firms. The office currently is a Century 21 franchise.

• Tom Watkins has joined Architectural Elements of Michigan in Traverse City as operations manager. He also will serve in sales.

A graduate of the Professional Violin Making School of America, Watkins learned cabinet making from his father.

He brings a combination of talent and over 20 years of custom design in furniture, trade show exhibits and automobile automation machinery to his new position.

Kelly Aebig also has joined Architectural Elements of Michigan as a kitchen specialist in the design/sales department.

Aebig currently is working toward a Certified Kitchen Designer designation and has extensive experience in furniture design and residential design with an emphasis on cottage style.

New business

• The Cheboygan County Museum recently opened Ye Olde Gift Shoppe at its facility. The newest addition to the museum features historical photos, old-fashioned candies, train whistles and other gift items.

Recognition

• The National Funeral Directors Association has awarded the nationally recognized Certified Preplanning Consultant designation to Kim Hough of the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.

The CPC certification is considered the standard of excellence in funeral service for individuals who help families plan funerals in advance.

• McLain Cycle and Fitness in Traverse City has been named the number one specialized bike dealer in Michigan. They competed for top honors with 50 other dealers and have been one of the top 100 specialized dealers nationally for the past five years.

• Grand Traverse Resort and Spa was the recipient of the Elite Meetings Advisory Board's "2007 Elite Certified Award,” an endorsement given to resorts and hotels exceeding industry standards.
