05/06/2007MemorandaPersonnel Huntington Bank's Marketing Manager Amy Johnson has been promoted to vice president. Her primary responsibilities include providing marketing support for the bank's north district, overseeing special events, coordination of sales promotions and direct marketing campaigns. Marty Rhein has joined Northern Contract Interiors in Traverse City as a commercial and residential interior design consultant. Rhein has been involved in the design industry for more than 12 years, most recently as a sales and design consultant for Eyewood Design in Traverse City. Recognition LindyLazar Marketing Communications was named "Best of Show at the Northern Michigan Advertising Club's annual Max Awards. The award was presented for LindyLazar's design and creation of the Four Winns Web site. The company's creative team also took honors for a print ad campaign for The Center for Plastic Surgery in Traverse City, for the 2007 Four Winns cruiser catalog and for a LindyLazar client communication mailing. WGTU/WGTQ 29 & 8 won two awards for its commercials during the Max Awards. The station won an Excellence Award for its Advance Electric "Generic 30-second commercial. Producer/editor on the project was Patrick Black. In the same category, WGTU won a Merit Award for its Hodges Fastener "Nuts and Bolts 30-second commercial. The producer/editor on the project was Leon Vietzke. WPBN/WTOM TV 7 & 4 received three Max Awards. The station received a Max Award for a YMCA commercial featuring programs available for adults and kids. A second award went to its locally produced Olympic coverage promotional announcement for the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. It also received a third place award for a promotional announcement featuring the 7 & 4 Sports Team. Floyd and Todd Wright Builders, Main Street Properties of East Jordan, the City of East Jordan and Presley Architecture received the 2007 Governor's Award for Historic Preservation for their rehabilitation of the Votruba Grocery and Porter Lumber Company buildings. OEC Lighting, headquartered in Charlevoix, has received four ADEX Awards for Design Excellence in recognition of outstanding product design and quality. Design Journal, the international trade publication for interior designers, architects and facility managers, sponsors the awards. The Secret Garden arts and crafts gallery in Empire, owned by Cynthia and Bruce Taggert, was nominated for a 2007 Top Retailer award from Niche Magazine, a national trade publication for craft retailers. Winners will be announced in August in Philadelphia. The Bonek Agency Inc. of Suttons Bay received a 5-star certificate of achievement from Fremont Insurance Co. for attaining the company's highest standing. Meetings Up North, a meetings and events management company in Traverse City, was named the best destination management company for the second consecutive year by Michigan Meetings & Events magazine.
