• The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. June 21 at Northwestern Bank, 97 River St., Elk Rapids. For details or information on how to become a sponsor, call Jamie Knapp, 264-5512 or the chamber office, 264-8202.

• The Northern Michigan and Sandy Shores chapters of International Association of Administrative Professionals will conduct a meeting at 6 p.m. June 21 at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville. Personnel file

• Jeff Hickman, president of Citizens Republic Bank, has been promoted to regional manager of commercial real estate banking for west Michigan and Wisconsin.

Prior to the recent merger of Citizens with Republic Bank, Hickman was named Republic's top community president. He will oversee six banks

• Paint expert Ken Larson has joined Brown Lumber in Traverse City. He has 25 years of experience specializing in interior and exterior coatings.

• WDWeb and MorePhotos in Traverse City has added new staff to their hosting and software development company.

Shelly Murphy joined WDWeb as a member of the development team. She has more than eight years of experience in design and development.

Adrian Maule has joined WDWeb as assistant network manager. He previously was employed with Electronic Data Systems of Lansing.

Leo Mauk joins WDWeb as a member of the software development team. Mauk has 30 years experience in computer program development.

WDWeb has hired James Perreault as part of the technical support team and sales and marketing team. His studies at Western Michigan included political science, business management and real estate appraisal.

Certification

• Nancy Sorenson, a sales associate for Century 21 Sleeping Bear Realty in Frankfort, recently earned her real estate broker's license.

A native of Manistee, Sorenson joined the sales staff at Sleeping Bear Realty in 2000 and earned her GRI certification from the National Association of Realtors.

• Cheryl Lohner, owner of Create a Buzz Marketing, LLC in Traverse City, recently attained certification as an Action Plan Marketing Coach.

The APMC certification signifies that Lohner has obtained knowledge and expertise in a comprehensive program developed by Robert Middleton of Action Plan Marketing.

Milestone

• Founders Robert and Marcy Ford of Riverside Title, LLC, in Elk Rapids, celebrated the company's 15 years of business in May. The company works with area banks, brokers, builders and Realtors facilitating mortgage and real estate transactions.

New ownership

• Living Light Massage and Wellness Center, 812 W. Front St. in Traverse City, has been purchased by Raelene Wooden-Hall and Chris Hall.

Wooden-Hall also is the owner and creative director of local marketing and advertising agency Idea Stream. She will continue in that role as well.

Living Light, featuring multiple treatment rooms, a traditional Finnish sauna and additional spa options and is now open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week by appointment.

Expansion

• The Blue Tractor Cook Shop on South Union Street in Traverse City is expanding its space by adding a patio. Construction of the new outdoor bar and dining area has started, and the patio will open in mid-June.
