TRAVERSE CITY — A former state economic development official joined the ranks of the Traverse Bay Economic Development Corp.

Jim Donaldson, a previous vice president of the business development group at the Michigan Economic Development Corp., is the new director of business and community development for the Traverse Bay EDC, the economic development arm of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce. He'll work to develop and implement economic development plans and services for the chamber's 4-county service area.

"Because of his extensive background, experience and contact base, Jim Donaldson is a great addition to the Traverse Bay EDC economic development team,” said Tino Breithaupt in a statement. Breithaupt is the chamber's senior vice president of economic development.

Donaldson's held a variety of economic development positions within the Michigan Jobs Commission and the state Department of Commerce.
