Dominic Fortuna and cast will present "I Believe in Music" beginning tonight and running through August 25. The salute to pop culture will be held at The Williamsburg Showcase Dinner Theater.

WILLIAMSBURG — Dominic Fortuna wants you to take a trip down memory lane with his latest production, "I Believe in Music,” opening tonight at 7 at the Williamsburg Dinner Theatre.

"A lot of Broadway musicals are leaning toward that revue-type show,” Fortuna said. "They blend pop music and pop culture so a whole generation can enjoy looking back.”

"I Believe in Music” will run Wednesdays through Saturdays the rest of the summer.

Fortuna said the music will span a variety of genres, from hit TV show theme songs like "Green Acres" and "The Addams Family” to praise music from "Mercy Me.”

The most intriguing part for Fortuna, who directs the summer show, is seeing how much the audience enjoys the dinner theater experience.

"When people come here and they're done, a lot of people are like, 'Wow, this was more than I expected,'” Fortuna said.

The doors open at 6 p.m. and a trio of musicians will serenade the patrons in the atrium for an hour before salad and the dinner is served at 7 p.m. Fortuna's show includes two 30-minute acts.

His 11-member cast consists mostly of college students from Indiana University and the University of Michigan.

Tickets are $44.95 per person for the gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Dan Kelly and the show. Reservations can be made at www.conventiondinnertheater.com or by calling the Williamsburg Dinner Theatre at 938-2181.
