Oneupweb buys Howard Energy site

TRAVERSE CITY — A burgeoning online marketing firm based in Leelanau County will move to a new bayfront home in Greilickville.

Oneupweb will relocate to the Howard Energy building along M-22 on West Grand Traverse Bay in Elmwood Township, company CEO Lisa Wehr said Tuesday. The company currently operates out of a former state office building along M-204 just east of Lake Leelanau. It's the fifth expansion for Wehr's company since she relocated her business to northern Michigan seven years ago.

"Hopefully, the Howard Energy building will serve us for a while,” Wehr said.

Oneupweb, which offers Internet search engine and marketing services to a national client base, will utilize up to 18,000 square feet of the 23,000-square-foot office building. Extensive renovation is planned for this summer. The company's 40-plus work crew is expected to move in sometime in September.

A purchase price for the building was not disclosed. It has an estimated cash value of around $4 million for tax purposes, according to county tax records.
