The fall grape harvest at Chateau Grand Traverse Winery and Vineyard is complete so employees remove nets that protect the rows of grapevines from birds. "We have more than 50,000 feet of the netting to remove," said Sean O’Keefe, the vineyard manager. The vineyard has tried different forms of bird deterrents over the years but O’Keefe said, "the netting works best."

Jeff Grant notches a 10-by-10 oak beam salvaged from a 150-year-old barn in central Illinois. The entire barn, including the stone foundation, is being reconstructed on Northport Point off Leelanau County Road 640 for residential use.
