Court ruling does little to help female athletes
This week's landmark decision to switch some prep sports seasons will reverberate though state sports. The problem is, the people behind it don't seem to realize how much. Or how. The resulting mess does little, if anything, to actually help girls. Instead, it simply puts girls in the same bad situation that every other state puts them in.

Oh, the huge difference a year makes for the Tigers
There was a time when Opening Day meant everything to this baseball team. During the 12 years from 1994-2005 when a .500 record would have been greeted with the enthusiasm of a World Series championship, there was big-time pressure on the Detroit Tigers to take the opener. But that was then. This is now.
