Evening on River Street

Every Wednesday through August 16 visit Elk Rapids to be part of "Evening on River Street." The stage for this mid-week siesta, as you might expect, is River Street which is closed off to vehicles from 6-9 p.m. so that people can congregate, enjoy good food, listen to a great band, and literally dance in the streets.

Bands headlining the weekly sets include the Jelly Roll Blues Band, the Allniters, and the Ronnie Hernandez Band to name a few. Additional family-friendly options each week include appearances by Isabella the Balloon Girl, the Story Lady, and special presentations by the Grass River Natural Area staff. If you enjoy a good book, note that favorite area writers are frequent guests at these evening events and do book signings. Even children can do their own writing along the streetscape so be sure to bring sidewalk chalk. And there's no better way to wrap up an evening in Elk Rapids than with an ice cream cone at George's Frozen Custard or a slice of Chef Charles award-winning pizza.
