Creating Lake Ecology Awareness through Newspapers

Humans are part of a complex system known as the environment, and as individuals each of us lives in a subsection of that system – our backyards, our neighborhoods, our communities – all feeding into the larger, more sensitive system whose balance is constantly at risk.

Every day the Record-Eagle reports on the issues, events and organizations relevant to this system. The health of the Great Lakes region – its environment, economy and quality of life – depends on this information, along with adequate research, fair policy, and aggressive advocacy.  This is why the Record-Eagle began C.L.E.A.N. Water, (Creating Lake Ecology Awareness through Newspapers).  Our goal is to enhance student and community understanding of the issues affecting our Watershed and provide opportunities for every reader to make a difference.

Just like our environment, this program is about making connections – between the events of today and the outcomes of tomorrow, between organizations and new resources, and between our readers and the world in which they live.
