The Stock Market GameThe Stock Market Game is a practical approach to learning key aspects of economics. The objective of the game is to learn practical lessons about investing, while having fun. Student teams are "given" $10,000 to buy and sell stocks as a mechanism to learn about such issues as investments, relationships in the economy, and the laws of supply and demand. Local stockbrokers assist in tallying results and provide guidance upon request. The Game is completely flexible and may be adapted in the classroom for grades four through twelve. Students participating in the Stock Market Game will learn: To participate in the game, you will want to plan on two initial classroom sessions for selecting stocks and monitoring prices. Following the introductory period, the game takes approximately 15 minutes a week -- or as much time as you want to spend -- for comparisons, discussions of difficult decisions and trading results.
