Obituaries
MARIA T. COYNE, 19, of Traverse City, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 27, 1999, at the University of Michigan Hospital.
Visitation times will be announced by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home of Traverse City. A Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. A complete obituary will appear in Friday's edition of the Record-Eagle.
BARRY JAMES CRAGG, 47, of Grayling, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1952.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel in Grayling followed by a memorial service. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Cemetry.
HELEN E. FOX, 68, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Grayling. She was born March 30, 1931.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. today at the Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel in Grayling. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery in Sparlingville.
Robert H. Ballard
Died October 26, 1999
ELMIRA - Robert H. Ballard, 84, of Elmira, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Grayling.
Born March 29, 1915, in Lakeview, he was the son of William and Myra (Anthony) Ballard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 1518 in Gaylord.
He is survived by one sister, Betty James of Ellsworth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Marian, Rita and Anna; and three brothers, Harold, Val and Albert.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Penzien Funeral Homes of Mancelona. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Delbert D. Crouch officiating. Interment will be in Star Township Cemetery in Alba.
Orpha Garnet Brow
Died October 26, 1999
LAKE LEELANAU - Orpha Garnet Brow, 84, of Lake Leelanau, died Tuesday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Born April 30, 1915, in Bingham Township, she was the daughter of David and Estella (Heinforth) Priest. On June 14, 1933, in Lake Leelanau, she married Albion E. Brow, who survives.
Orpha enjoyed reading, embroidering and playing cards. She will always be fondly remembered for her baking and cooking skills.
She is also survived by a daughter, Phyllis Dunklow of Lake Leelanau; a sister, Iris Brugh of Traverse City; granddaughter, Marilyn (David) Fortuna of Suttons Bay; grandson, Barry Dunklow of Lake Leelanau; stepgrandson, Jacob Fortuna of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Marvin Dunklow; five brothers, Earl, Raymond, Alfred, Orville and Bud; and one sister, Fern Behm.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. James H. Beadle officiating. Burial will be in Keswick Maple Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Suttons Bay Congregational Church.
Virginia Setchfield 'Ginny' Kildee
Died October 25, 1999
TRAVERSE CITY - Virginia Jeanne Setchfield "Ginny" Kildee, 74, of Traverse City, died Monday at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 10, 1925, in Ionia, she was the daughter of Richard and Mable Setchfield, the youngest of six children. A 1942 graduate of Ionia High School, she attended Grand Rapids Junior College where she enrolled in business and secretarial courses. In 1947, Ginny married and moved to Traverse City where she owned and operated Synder-Becsey Shoe Store with her late husband, John Becsey.
Ginny's finest asset was her reliability to people and thoroughly enjoyed her time spent working for Consumers Energy from which she retired in 1987. She devoted her life to raising her children and if asked, she would declare them to be her greatest accomplishment. Her home was full of activity and love with her heart and door always open to friends and those in need of her special touch. Ginny was passionately involved in the lives of her children whether it be girl scouts leader, carpool coordinator or "spending time at the beach with her children." She loved fashion entertaining, cooking and most importantly spending cherish time with her grandchildren who knew she was never more than a phone call away. On Dec. 28, 1980, she married William F. Kildee, with whom she shared 20 fulfilling years and treasured memories.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Bill Kildee; two brothers, Bruce Setchfield of Independence, Mo. and Barney Setchfield of Grand Rapids; a sister, Glenna Knape of East Grand Rapids and her children, Jan (Tim) Holt and their children, Laura and Andrew of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; John (Bekki) Becsey and their children, Joe, Katherine and Bobby of Dimondale; Jill (Mark) Shattuck and their children, Clinton and Spencer of Traverse City; Jim (Meme) Becsey and their children, Jack, Jenna, Chase and Andrea of East Grand Rapids; and Jody (Matt) Madion and their children, Matthew, Mark and Danny of Traverse City. Also surviving are her blended family with Bill Kildee, Susie (Bill) Janis and their children, Julie and Eddie; Patrick Kildee and his children, Heidi and Sean; Sandi (Jon) Lindstrom and their children, Kurt, Jeremiah and Janie; Lisa (Tim) Lempke and their children, Matthew and Jessica; and William Kildee, Jr. - all of Traverse City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with a scripture reading at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Father Fred Foundation.
Inch Gaddi Spindler
Died October 27, 1999
TRAVERSE CITY - Inch Gaddi Spindler, 47, of Traverse City, died Wednesday at her residence with loving family members by her side. She is remembered as a creative talent as well as a gifted, courageous, and loving woman.
A memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, with Fathers Rey Garcia, Paul Magge and James Hayden serving as concelebrants.
She is survived by her husband, Detlef Rene Spindler; mother, Marita T. Gaddi; children, Robert Desmond White, 20, Susan Greta Spindler, 10, and Andreas Bernhard Spindler, 8; and other family in the Philippines.

William Paul Stusick
Died October 27, 1999
CALEDONIA - William Paul Stusick, 44, of Caledonia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday.
Bill was first and foremost devoted to his wife and family. He was employed by Consumers Energy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tracy; his children, Maggie Stusick, Michelle Stusick and Danielle Aspinall; his father, William H. Stusick; his mother, Patricia Stusick; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Vivian Allerding; his sisters and brothers, Sharon and Joseph Carlton, Michael and Julie Stusick, Joseph and Christine Stusick and John Stusick; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Sue Allerding; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the DeVries Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave., S.E. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Michael Anton officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Stusick Children Education Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
