Obituaries

KEARNEY SCOTT BOTHWELL, 81, of Central Lake, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. He was born May 20, 1918.
      The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
     
      Robert Hall
      Died October 28, 1999
      TRAVERSE CITY - Robert Hall, 80, of Traverse City, died Thursday.
      Born Dec. 5, 1918, in Natick, Mass., he was the son of George F. and Ellen M. (Dwyer) Hall. On. Nov. 15, 1945, in Long Beach, Calif., he married the former Natalie A. Hastings, who preceded him in death in 1997.
      Robert retired from the U.S. Marine Corp. after 23 years of service. He was a lieutenant colonel and served in both World War II and Korea. He was also the former president of Northwestern Savings and Loan Association. His favorite pastime was golf. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, former member of Traverse City Golf and Country Club and a member of the Knife and Fork Club.
      He is survived by two daughters, Nancy A. Hall of San Antonio, Texas and Sally E. (Jake) Troyer of Copenhagen, Denmark; three sons, Dr. Robert M. (Cynthia) Hall, Timothy D. (Jacquelyn) Hall and Matthew J. (Peggy) Hall - all of Traverse City; one brother, Brendan J. Hall of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Joan M. (Albert) Cugini of Natick, Mass.; and 12 grandchildren, John, Michael, Briana, Stephanie, Brendan, Alaina, Sean, Kieran, Riley, Quinn, Molly and Daniel.
      He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet; and a brother, George Hall.
      Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church with Rev. William Lipscomb serving as celebrant. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Catholic Church or to Munson Medical Center.
     
      Agnes Marie Majszak
      Died October 29, 1999
      TRAVERSE CITY - Agnes Marie Majszak, 93, of Traverse City died Friday at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
      Born Oct. 13, 1906, in Pana, Ill., she was the daughter of Albert and Anna (Grofcik) Lapansky. On Oct. 14, 1925, in Detroit, she married Francis Majszak.
      Agnes was born and raised in Pana, Ill. She later moved to Detroit and Canton, Ohio. She had been residing in Traverse City since 1944. A homemaker, she loved doing needlework and making items for family. She was also an avid gardener. Agnes was a member of St. Francis Parish and Martha's Club of St. Francis.
      She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Robert A. (Carol) Majszak of Traverse City, Frank G. (Sally) Majszak of Cedar, John M. (Theora) Majszak of Sheridan, Wyo., Susan (Norman) Constant of Grand Rapids and Mary Helen Shivy of Iron Mountain; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; parents; two sons, Wayne and Richard Majszak; six brothers; two sisters; and three great-grandchildren.
      Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Father William Lipscomb officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools or St. Francis Catholic Church.
     
      Maxine L. Welker
      Died October 28, 1999
      TRAVERSE CITY - Maxine L. Welker, 82, of Traverse City, died Thursday at Bortz Health Care in Traverse City.
      Born April 27, 1917, in Pioneer, Ohio, she was the daughter of Eli and Rosa (Slagel) Rediger. She was a resident of Traverse City since 1983.
      Maxine was a member of the Bates Missionary Church. Her church was her life and her home. She was a volunteer with the Kalkaska Commission on Aging. She loved to cook, crochet, read, play bingo and do crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.
      She is survived by a son, Rev. E. Joseph (Evelyn) Purdy of Williamsburg; daughter, Barbara (Wm. Max) Nonnamaker of Akron, Ohio; Stepdaughter, Mary Yoder of North Canton, Ohio; stepson, Vernon (Gwen) Weisenborn of Florida; two sisters, Pauline (Mike) Peabody of Sylvian, Ohio and Marlene (Paul Gene) Stall of Pandora, Ohio; brother, Loren Rediger; and four grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rev. Walter M. Purdy; second husband, William C. Welker; and two brothers, Richard and Wayne Rediger.
      Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City with her son, Rev. E. Joseph Purdy, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Ohio.
      Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bates Missionary Church.
     
      Ravella A. Zimmerman
      Died October 30, 1999
      JACKSON - Ravella A. Zimmerman, 89, of Jackson, died Saturday.
      Born in 1909, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of Augustus G. and Lenora Mary Dominie.
      Previous to moving to Jackson in 1946, she was a longtime member of the Lone Tree Junior Club. She was employed for 18 years at the Queen of the Miraculous Medal School where she was a cook. Ravella was a member of the Holy Family Circle, Queen's Guild and Ministry of Praise. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was her life.
      She is survived by a son, Jerry (Jan) Zimmerman; daughters, Marlene (Bob) Henderson and Dorothy Zimmerman; four grandchildren, Chris Henderson, Patty (Ray) Baggett, Rick (Maggie) Zimmerman and Tracey (Jay) Odell; three great-grandchildren, Alana and John Zimmerman and Loren Lee Odell; and a special friend, Alice Benton.
      She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John G. Zimmerman; two brothers, Albert and Harry Dominie; and a sister, Delores Antony,
      The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at the Wetherby Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church with Father Mark Inglot officiating. Interment will take place at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
      Friends who wish may make contributions to Queen's Guild.
